Malaysian CSU Alumni Team Place Second in the Australian Alumni Hunteroos Race

IT was a traffic-stopping sight! The Australian Alumni Hunteroos Race saw 25 teams, comprising four members each, participating in a 10km walk-ride-challenge event around central Kuala Lumpur recently.

Based on a popular adventure race, the event, organised by the Australian High Commission in KL with support from the Malaysian Australian Alumni Council (MAAC), saw graduates from Australian universities and their friends competing neck and neck in various events.

Charles Sturt University’s Alumni team placed a close and valiant second in this challenging adventure through the crowded streets of KL.  The ex-graduates and friends of the University of Western Australia won the event with the University of Melbourne alumni winning the title of second runners-up. Consolation prizes were also presented to teams which came up with the funniest poses and gave their best shots at challenges. The event was flagged off by Pamela and Vanessa Chong, first runners-up of the second season of Amazing Race Asia. The Australian High Commissioner, Penny Williams, and MAAC president, Puan Sri Dr Susan Cheah, presented prizes to the winners at the end of the race.

“It is great to have such an active Australian alumni network in Malaysia,” said Williams.

“This event celebrates people-to-people links,” she added.
