CSU welcomes new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)

Charles Sturt University (CSU) Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Ian Goulter, has announced the appointment of Professor Sue Thomas to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). 
 
Professor Thomas is currently Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) at the University of Canberra.  Professor Goulter said he was delighted to welcome an academic leader of Professor Thomas’ calibre to the University.
 
Professor Sue Thomas.“Professor Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a PhD in non-clinical Microbiology from La Trobe University, in addition to a Master of Business Administration (Technology Management) from Deakin University/APESMA, and a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education from Flinders University.
 
“Since completing her PhD work in 1984, her professional career has spanned appointments at Princeton University in the USA, the Medical Research Council in the UK, Flinders University in Adelaide, and the University of Canberra.
 
“CSU is committed to excellence in research, identifying and supporting areas and projects which allow for the undertaking of internationally competitive research and research training.
 
“We are thrilled to have Professor Thomas join us to continue our mission to offer quality research and research training opportunities to staff, students and communities, including partners in industry, the professions and the communities of inland Australia,” Professor Goulter said.
 
Professor Thomas will join CSU on Monday 17 August 2009.
