New CSU leader to focus on students

Thursday 14 Sep 2017

Charles Sturt University (CSU) has named a new senior leader to further drive a culture centred on the needs and success of its students.

Ms Jenny Roberts will join CSU in November as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students).

In announcing the appointment, CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann said, "This is a key appointment for Charles Sturt University as the newly established portfolio has a clear focus on student recruitment and student experience.

"Jenny comes to Charles Sturt University from CQUniversity Australia in Rockhampton where she is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience and Governance).

"It's significant that Jenny joins us from another multi-campus, regional university where she has lengthy leadership experience overseeing student support services and governance.

"Jenny also shares Charles Sturt University's commitment to regional Australia and our work to expand higher educational opportunities for students for rural and remote areas.

"The new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) will help us ensure our student recruitment practices lead the sector and, importantly, that we are able to match the right students to the right programs, whether they be undergraduate, postgraduate, on campus or through CSU online.

"Jenny will have oversight across the entire student journey from the initial application, through to graduation and alumni as well as ensuring high quality support services are available to our students in between."

The appointment of Ms Roberts follows the retirement of the University's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Ken Dillon in July.

Ms Roberts is due to start at CSU on Monday 20 November.
