Rotary supports CSU

The Rotary Club of Orange has demonstrated its support of health in regional NSW by announcing a new scholarship to be offered through the Charles Sturt Foundation at Charles Sturt University (CSU).

From 2008, first year students studying the Bachelor of Clinical Science (Rural Pathways Program) at CSU’s Orange Campus can apply for a scholarship that will provide financial assistance to them during their three-year course.

President of the Rotary Club of Orange, Mr Alan Josey, said that the club is delighted to support local students who choose to undertake a career in health.

“Rotary believes in investing in the future of regional health in NSW. We hope this scholarship will provide a student with the opportunity to commit to their studies without the added financial pressures associated with attending university,” Mr Josey said.

The scholarship will be awarded to a first year student who has undertaken the majority of their high school education in Orange and demonstrated academic merit, leadership and community involvement.

Applications for the scholarship will close on Monday 18 February 2008.

CSU Manager of University Relations, Mrs Narelle Stocks, said that scholarships provide students with an excellent start and continual support throughout their studies.

“The generosity of donors that support the Charles Sturt Foundation, such as the Rotary Club of Orange, is assisting the Foundation to recognise and reward students who have shown dedication and commitment to their studies, community and other aspects of life,” says Mrs Stocks.

Prospective students interested in applying for the Rotary Club of Orange scholarship for 2008 should visit the Charles Sturt Foundation website.
