Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Ontario, Canada, is consolidating its presence as a leading higher education provider with news of the renewed consent for an existing education program and approval for a new forensic biotechnology degree.The Provost of CSU in Ontario, Dr Bob Meyenn, said, “This is an exciting development for Charles Sturt University because it both confirms the quality and value of our education program and extends the range of degrees we are able to offer in Ontario”.
“The decision by the Hon. Mr John Milloy, the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities in Ontario, means that Charles Sturt University can continue to offer the Bachelor of Primary Education Studies (BPES) for the next five years.
“We take enormous pride in the success of our students, our top-flight instructors and the world-class teaching materials, methodologies and technology that assist them. The Minister’s renewal, on the advice of the Post-Secondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB), reaffirms that Charles Sturt University in Burlington, Ontario continues to deliver exceptional teacher education.”
The other development, an announcement by CSU’s School of Biomedical Sciences of approval for a forensic biotechnology degree, means new career opportunities for Ontario students.
Dr Meyenn said, “Forensic biotechnology is an exciting and growing field of science, and there is worldwide demand for graduates with broad skills in forensics, biotechnology and related fields.
“The Bachelor of Science (Forensic Biotechnology) is assured for the next five years, and aims to broaden employment opportunities for graduates. They will be able to pursue careers in a range of important fields, from working at crime scenes to genetic engineering to medical research. We have worked closely with the profession, and with Mohawk College, to develop a top-notch program.”
