New CSU business administration programs in Ontario
5 NOVEMBER 2010
Three new CSU business administration honours degrees are to be offered from its campus in Burlington. The Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, Human Resource Management, and Marketing will meet both the immediate and long-term needs of industry and business professionals, and add value and diversity to post-secondary education offerings in Ontario, Canada.

The Provost of CSU in Ontario, Dr Bob Meyenn, says the approval of the three programs by the Hon. Mr John Milloy, the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities in Ontario, is welcome news for CSU and Ontario students and businesses.
“The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs will make a distinctive contribution to business education in Ontario because they will provide graduates with a set of skills, attributes and values that will equip them to become highly effective leaders in an increasingly globalised and complex business environment,” Dr Meyenn said.
“The degrees meet a recognised demand from College graduates with an advanced diploma who seek to upgrade their qualifications. The combinations of specialised professional studies in accounting, human resources management, or marketing, and a choice of strands, will provide graduates with a real workplace advantage as business professionals in the decades ahead.
“The focus on critical analysis, conceptual and theoretical understandings, and the development of problem solving skills, mean that graduates are ready to enter an evolving business world. They will be able to adapt to change and provide leadership within their organisations and the business community more broadly.
“The addition of the three business administration programs will also add greater diversity and strength to the program offerings at CSU in Ontario.”
CSU has worked closely with its post-secondary Ontario neighbours, Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, and Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology, to develop the degrees.
CSU’s Bachelor of Business Administration programs build on the three-year provincially-accredited advanced diplomas offered by Community Colleges in Ontario, and recognise the prior learning of advanced diploma graduates and provide credit into the CSU degrees.
The degree completion programs require two years of full-time study (or equivalent part-time) and will be delivered from CSU’s campus in Burlington, Ontario. It is anticipated that most applicants will initially be drawn from Mohawk and Sheridan Colleges.
Professional studies in accounting, human resources management or marketing will be completed in the first of the two years. Students will then complete either a strand in global citizenship or business ethics and corporate governance in their final year.
