Six CSU graduation ceremonies in Bathurst

Six graduation ceremonies will be held at the CD Blake Auditorium at CSU in Bathurst on Wednesday 12, Thursday 13 and Friday 14 December.

Six graduation ceremonies will be held at the CD Blake Auditorium at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Bathurst on Wednesday 12, Thursday 13 and Friday 14 December.
 
“More than 5 500 people will attend over three days to witness and celebrate the graduation of 1 454 students from the Faculties of Arts, Business, Education and Science,”  said Head of Campus at CSU in Bathurst, Mr Col Sharp.
 
“This is a defining point in the life of each of these Charles Sturt University students. Many will be receiving their first undergraduate degree, while others gain a postgraduate award, including a few who will receive a PhD.
 
“These ceremonies celebrate aspiration and achievement, and we warmly welcome all our graduates, their families and friends.  A number of prizes will also be awarded for outstanding academic achievement.”
 
The ceremonies on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will start at either 9.30am or 3pm, and are scheduled to last approximately two and a half hours. The six graduation ceremonies at CSU in Bathurst are:
 
9.30am Wednesday 12 December – Faculty of Science
144 students from the School of Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Indigenous Health. The Occasional Address will be delivered by Professor David Wilson, Head of the CSU School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
 
A Doctor of Health Science will be awarded to Cynthia Ann Gilmer for her thesis, Developing leadership skills in managers in an acute care hospital.
 
3pm Wednesday 12 December– Faculty of Arts
327 students from the School of Communication and Creative Industries, the School of Psychology, and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Occasional Address will be delivered by Mr John Kerrison, Media and Public Relations Adviser for Transport NSW.
 
A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) will be awarded to:
Janelle Veronica Levesque for her thesis, Benefit finding in parental cancer: types and predictors of benefits and their influence on depression and well-being.
 
Yvette Marie Zurek for her thesis, Gender, statelessness and the sovereignty of the modern state.
 
A Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) will be awarded to Donna Marie Kite for her thesis, Professional and community beliefs about Asperger’s disorder.
 
A Doctor of Psychology (Forensic) will be award to  Bianca Marina Spaccavento for her thesis, Re-offending: a function of cognitive inflexibility?
 
9.30am Thursday 13 December - Faculty of Education
270 students from the School of Teacher Education. The Occasional Address will be delivered by Senator Fiona Nash.
 
Kim Jo-Anne D’Ombrain will graduate with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) with Distinction, and will receive two prizes; The Australian College of Educators New South Wales Branch Prize, and the Bonham Professional Experience Prize.
 
3pm Thursday 13 December - Faculty of Education
193 students from the School of Teacher Education, including Ms Larissa Jayne Hanlon (from Calala, near Tamworth) who will be awarded the University Medal for outstanding achievement, and the Human Movement Studies Prize. The Occasional Address will be delivered by Mr Paul Toole, MP.
 
A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) will be awarded to:
Kathryn Anne Edgeworth for her thesis, Discourses of inclusion and exclusion: ethnic minority, Muslim and refugee students in rural schools.
 
Janet Moles for her thesis, The experiences of overseas-born, ethnic minority early childhood student teachers in New Zealand.
 
Monique Patricia Pointon for her thesis, The effect of cold water immersion on recovery following the demands associated with team-sport exercise.
 
Melissa Elizabeth Skein for her thesis, Regulation of pacing strategies during intermittent-sprint exercise: the effects of altered physiological and perceptual states on team sport performance.
 
A Doctor of Education to Matthew John Winslade for his thesis, Exploring the status of personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) in secondary schools.
 
9.30am Friday 14 December – Faculty of Business
277 students from the School of Management and Marketing, and the School of Accounting and Finance. The Occasional Address will be delivered by Councillor Monica Morse, Mayor of Bathurst. A notable graduating student is Ms Jane Boag from Millthorpe, near Orange, who will graduate with a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) after overcoming personal hardship.
 
A Doctor of Business Administration will be awarded to:
Marc Kurt Peter for his thesis, Future screening – a framework for advancing strategic corporate foresight.
 
Robert George Sauer for his thesis, Equity capital raising by small technology-based firms in Australia from venture capital and angel investor sources.
 
3pm Friday 14 December – Faculty of Business
243 students from the School of Computing and Mathematics, and the Study Centre, Sydney. The Occasional Address will be delivered by Mr Alan Patterson, CEO of the Australian Computer Society.
 
A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) will be awarded to David Nicholas Carr for his thesis, Computer games technology for simulating non-classical physics.
