Charles Sturt University (CSU) has welcomed the latest national figures revealing the proportion of its graduates finding full-time employment is higher than at any other Australian university.

In the Good Universities Guide 2018 published by Good Education Group, CSU is awarded five stars for Graduate employment as well as Median graduate salary and Learner engagement.

The report reveals that 83.9 per cent of CSU graduates find employment within four months of graduation.

This compares with the national average rate of full time employment of 69.5 per cent.

Acting CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Toni Downes said, "The fact that almost 84 per cent of Charles Sturt University graduates find employment within four months of graduation is a testament to the quality and strength of our teaching and learning including our practical, hands-on approach through work place learning both in Australia and overseas.

"Our graduates are indeed 'job-ready' for the professions in our regional communities as well as nationally and internationally.

"This report also shows that not only do Charles Sturt University graduates get jobs, but their starting salaries is one of the highest of Australian universities at $60 000."

The latest Good Universities Guide also reveals that 22 per cent of domestic students who commence study at CSU come from a low socio economic background. It found no other Australian university serves as many low SES students.

Professor Downes said, "This is important for Charles Sturt University because as well as priding ourselves on the employability of our graduates, we are inclusive and strive to make higher education readily accessible to all members of our communities."
