Charles Sturt University graduates continue to outperform their Australian peers when it comes to securing full-time employment.

This is the seventh year in a row the University has ranked first among Australian public universities for graduate employment within four to six months of graduating, according to the Graduate Outcomes Survey 2023 (GOS).

Charles Sturt’s outstanding domestic undergraduate full-time employment rate increased by 0.5 percentage points in 2023, with 91.2 per cent of graduates in full-time jobs within this timeframe.

Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renée Leon is proud of the University’s survey results noting Charles Sturt is achieving an exceptionally high standard for one of the most important benchmarks in the sector.

“The goal for many who pursue higher education is to obtain a great job in their chosen field as quickly as possible,” Professor Leon said.

“Being ranked first in undergraduate employment for seven consecutive years is a testament to Charles Sturt’s continued focus on delivering cutting-edge courses, facilities and integrated workplace learning experiences. It’s through our ‘roll up your sleeves’ degrees Charles Sturt gives our students the edge with practical, real-life educational qualifications.”

The GOS also found that Charles Sturt undergraduates start their careers with some of the highest salaries among Australian graduates.

In 2023, the median salary for domestic undergraduate students at Charles Sturt increased by 4 per cent to $75,700.

“This marks a consistent increase over the past five years, with the median salary now $10,600 higher than in 2018,” Professor Leon said.

“The 2023 median salary for Charles Sturt undergraduates is $4,700 above the sector median, which is especially important at a time when cost-of-living pressures are hitting hard.”

The University is also delivering when it comes to postgraduates securing full-time work within four to six months.

In 2023, 93.4 per cent of postgraduate coursework students were in full-time employment within four to six months, which was a 2.2 per cent increase on 2022.

The Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) is administered annually by Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT). Graduates of Australian higher education institutions are invited to complete the GOS approximately four to six months after finishing their studies.
