- SPRUNG Festival runs from Wednesday 25 September to Saturday 5 October
- This year’s theme ‘Capture the Moment’ encourages the audience to participate in four stage shows and three interactive experiences on campus
The annual ‘SPRUNG Festival of creative performance’ at Charles Sturt University (Charles Sturt) in Bathurst will be launched at the Victoria Hotel on Saturday 14 September.
This year’s SPRUNG Festival will run from Wednesday 25 September to Saturday 5 October and will showcase the original work of final-year Bachelor of Theatre Media students in the Charles Sturt School of Communication and Creative Industries in Bathurst.
Theatre media lecturer Ms Zoe Rodwell said, “This year’s theme ‘Capture the Moment’ encourages the audience to participate and become part of the artistic process of four diverse stage shows and three unique interactive experiences performed across the campus.
“Every aspect of these original, cutting-edge productions is created and managed by students.
“They must develop and write an original script for the productions, perform the productions, and are also responsible for all technical aspects such as lighting, set and audio.
“Each production creates a unique opportunity for the audience to interact and contribute, which we think is a very exciting element that takes advantage of the fun experience of live theatre.”
SPRUNG Festival coordinator Ms Alexandria Vidler said, “We want visitors to the Festival to take photos, interact with the performers, and create memories in this fantastic creative space.
“We are really excited to see how audiences respond, and really hope they will get into the spirit of these productions, and enjoy the interaction that is being encouraged here.”
Shows will run from 6pm until 9.30pm on Wednesday to Saturday, with each show’s running times a maximum of 55 minutes, and ticket prices range from $8 to $15.
