A Charles Sturt University (CSU) scholarship fundraiser event in Port Macquarie honours the memory of a paramedic graduate and celebrates emergency services personnel on the NSW Mid North Coast.

The JB Emergency Services Beach Ball to be held at Rydges Hotel from 7pm to 11pm on Friday 17 May honours Mr Jacob Berry (pictured), a paramedic graduate at CSU in Port Macquarie who tragically passed away just after graduation while he was on a holiday in the Cook Islands in 2016.

The annual event raises funds for the memorial scholarship set up in his name to help future paramedic students from Port Macquarie study at CSU.

The annual JB Emergency Services Ball is organised by the CSU Student Representative Committee, Rydges Hotel, and Jacob’s mother Mrs Julie Berry, and celebrates CSU paramedic students as well as community emergency services personnel.

One of the organisers, paramedicine student Ms Tahlia Rance, said, “The JB Emergency Services Ball is definitely an unforgettable night.

“It’s so great to see everyone come together as a community and not worry about our uni work. I definitely encourage everyone to come, it’s too much fun to miss!”

President of CSU Student Paramedics Australasia (Port Macquarie) and co-organiser Ms Jessica Paton said, “Many local businesses contribute to the night by providing donations to the raffles and auction.

“This is my second year helping with the organisation of the ball and I would like to encourage all students, their families and friends to join us for another unforgettable night of fun and prizes.”

The 2019 JB Emergency Services Beach Ball is a cocktail style event with scattered tables and chairs - no set seating. This is a mix-and-mingle fun event, with games and prizes all night.

Tickets are $29 students and $49 adults.

The event sponsors are Berry Financial Services, Rydges Hotel Port Macquarie, Black Square Surfboards, Pose It! Photo Booths, and CSU.
