• Charles Sturt to award a clinical science student a University Medal
• Ms Peta O’Brien will receive the medal at her graduation ceremony in Orange on Thursday 12 December

A Charles Sturt University (Charles Sturt) student who has spent the last three years in Orange studying to achieve a Bachelor of Clinical Science will be awarded with a top honour at her graduation ceremony tomorrow.

Ms Peta O’Brien, who hails from Parkes, NSW, will be awarded with a Charles Sturt University Medal at the University’s graduation ceremony in Orange on Thursday 12 December.

The award of an undergraduate University Medal is the highest honour the Charles Sturt University Council can confer on graduating students.

Ms O’Brien said she is honoured to receive such a prestigious award.

“To me, receiving a University Medal is formal recognition of all the hard work I have put into my studies over the last three years,” she said.

“I am really looking forward to officially receiving my bachelor’s degree and the University Medal at my graduation.”

Speaking of her time at Charles Sturt, Ms O’Brien said she is thankful for the support of her lecturers.

“My lecturers have been very helpful and supportive through all three years of my degree,” Ms O’Brien said.

“They also put in a lot of extra work organising extracurricular activities to help those clinical science students who are preparing for entrance into the University’s medical and dentistry programs.”

Charles Sturt’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) Ms Jenny Roberts said she would like to publicly applaud Ms O’Brien for achieving this exceptional award.

“University Medals are only awarded to graduating students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance,” Ms Roberts said.

“Ms O’Brien’s medal is a reflection of the incredible hard work and commitment she has put towards her studies.

“I look forward to seeing what Ms O’Brien accomplishes as a graduate of Charles Sturt University and wish her all the best in her career.”

Ms O’Brien will be awarded the University Medal and a Bachelor of Clinical Science at the Charles Sturt graduation ceremony in Orange on Thursday 12 December at 2pm.
