- St Mark’s National Theological Centre at Charles Sturt to host guest lecture on Monday 27 February from 7pm
- The lecture will include an overview of a new book engaging with moral psychology by the Director of the Centre
St Mark’s National Theological Centre, a partner in the School of Theology at Charles Sturt University, is hosting its annual Commencement Lecture and Prizegiving on Monday 27 February at 7pm.
The event is held annually to welcome students and supporters for the academic year, while also celebrating the achievements of St Mark’s students in 2022.
During the event, Director of St Marks Reverend Dr Andrew Cameron will give an overview of his new book The Logic of Love: Christian Ethics and Moral Psychology.
Dr Cameron will outline an account of how ethical deliberations, even our moral failures, are deeply connected to what we love.
“By assessing what makes the intersection between emotion and ethics so confusing, this book surveys an older wisdom in how to manage it, using a range of Christian theologians and sources,” Dr Cameron said.
“Furthermore, it allows us to see a vision for a better set of affections to grow within and among us.”
Dr Cameron asks the question: ‘How may we recover a deep affection for what matters, both within ourselves and together in groups?’
The book also explores a new movement in moral psychology, 'social intuitionism'.
The event will be held at Charles Sturt Canberra in the Durie Room at 15 Blackall Street, Barton on Monday 27 February from 7pm.
If attending in person, RSVP by emailing admin@stmarks.edu.au or calling 02 6272 6252.
