The NSW Governor Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC visited Charles Sturt in Orange on Thursday 3 August.

On Thursday 3 August Charles Sturt University students, staff and representatives from schools and the local community had the privilege of meeting with the NSW Governor at Charles Sturt in Orange.

Her Excellency The Honourable  Margaret Beazley AC KC visited with her husband Mr Denis Wilson to tour some of the latest campus facilities while marking NSW Education Week.

The NSW Governor addressed attendees, thanking the Charles Sturt community for hosting the visit and afterwards was shown around the University’s School of Rural Medicine facilities.

Charles Sturt University Director of External Engagement for Bathurst and Orange Ms Julia Andrews said the NSW Governor’s visit was timely, being NSW Education Week.

“We are delighted to welcome Her Excellency to Orange and to show her the work we are doing at our Orange campus in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and physiotherapy,” Ms Andrews said.

Ms Andrews noted the NSW Governor’s deep commitment to education and youth leadership.

“As this week is NSW Education Week, we are celebrating our students and the critical role our teachers and educators play in shaping the next generation,” she said.

“We are honoured to have Her Excellency here during such a pivotal week.”

Charles Sturt Dean of the School of Rural Medicine Professor Lesley Forster guided the NSW Governor through the plastinated specimens’ area.

“It is a privilege to have Her Excellency here with us today,” Professor Forster said.

“We are delighted to showcase the impact our School is having on producing much-needed doctors in country areas, who are being trained in rural generalism.”

Also in attendance were representatives from Regional Development Australia (RDA) Central West, including Year 11 students from RDA’s Ten4Ten program, along with school principals and students from the Orange and Bathurst area.
