Scholarship supports regional psychology and social work students

Applications are open for social work and psychology students from the Griffith region to apply for a scholarship from Centacare South West to cover costs of living and study.

Psychology or Social Work students from the Griffith region can have some of the financial burden of studying away from home relieved through a $5,000 scholarship at Charles Sturt University.

The Centacare South West NSW Scholarship is available to online and on-campus continuing students studying in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Wagga Wagga. 

The scholarship is on offer for second, third, and fourth-year undergraduates and Honours, Masters or post-graduate students studying a Bachelor of Psychology, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Human Services, or Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology). Each scholarship offers a one-off payment of $5,000.

Charles Sturt Foundation Chief Executive Officer Ms Sarah Ansell said this scholarship program allows the University to assist in building strong futures for students and their communities.

“This is another great example of local services and businesses contributing to a strong future for local communities,” she said.

“Not only will these scholarships help multiple students complete university, they will also help ensure a pipeline of vital professionals within our regions.”

Centacare aims to empower families to create change for the better by supporting thriving, resilient and connected communities.

This scholarship program is to support a regional student from Griffith or surrounding areas with expenses related to undergraduate, Honours or Masters studies in Psychology or Social Work.

Applicants must have lived in and/or completed most or all of their studies in the Griffith area and need to provide evidence of completion of school studies or proof of residence in these areas.

Students must have a GPA of 4.0 or above.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to apply for Centacare South West NSW’s Graduate Program towards the end of their studies.

Applications for the Centacare South West NSW Scholarship are open until 9am on Monday 5 February.
