Do not let the recent rainfall fool you - there is still a chance this summer could shape up to be a devastating bushfire season, according to a Charles Sturt wildfire expert.

More than 1,000 people are celebrating 287 graduates at the Charles Sturt University graduation ceremonies at Port Macquarie on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 December.

Thursday 15 December was a highly anticipated day with more than 330 people celebrating more than 100 graduates at the Charles Sturt University graduation ceremony Orange.

Charles Sturt University has 10 scholarships on offer, worth up to $28,500 each, for young people who have experienced out-of-home care to obtain an undergraduate degree.

The program provides financial assistance to women to complete a higher education course in part-time study in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field.

Almost 290 students graduate in Albury-Wodonga in a range of subjects, from allied health to education and nursing, as they were joined by more than 920 guests to celebrate.
