The on-campus emergency scenario will be carried out as if the incident happens in real time, to test the University's preparedness and cooperation with external agencies. The exercise is part of the University's ongoing incident response improvement program, and will be part of an annual gathering of University staff involved with its Emergency Planning Committee and its campus-based Critical Incident Response Groups. It will involve personnel from NSW Police, University facilities management staff, paramedic staff and volunteers from the CSU School of Biomedical Sciences, andjournalism and performance staff and students from the CSU School of Communication and Creative Industries. Head of Campus at CSU in Bathurst, Mr Col Sharp, said, "It is important for the University to consider the types of emergencies it may face and then ensure it can respond appropriately. This takes careful forethought, informed where possible by practical exercises such as the one planned. It's great to involve our students, in addition to our emergency planning staff. We also appreciate the involvement of our local police, who continue to support the University in its initiatives to best manage the campus. I congratulate Mr Wayne Millar, the Presiding Officer of our Emergency Planning Committee, for leading the university's commitment to emergency planning, and thank campus manager, Mr Peter Scott, for organising the exercise."
