- The Sprung Festival at Charles Sturt University from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 October aims to inspire and entertain audiences with four theatre and film productions about this year’s theme, ‘Fly With Me’
The annual Sprung Festival at Charles Sturt University this week was developed by students under COVID-19 restrictions, with four productions presented online from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 October.
Sprung Festival is the annual collection of theatre and short films by final-year Theatre Media and Digital Media students in the Charles Sturt School of Information and Communication Studies in Bathurst.
Student and festival Marketing Director Ms Janita Stapelberg said because 2021 has been a challenging time for all of us, the Sprung Festival aims to lift audiences out of their reality and into a world filled with creativity and imagination with this year’s theme, ‘Fly With Me’.
“Although the Sprung Festival is historically an annual live theatre festival at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst, this year it has moved to an online presentation,” she said.
“This year’s festival is especially exciting because being online means it has a potential global audience.
“We have students contributing to this festival from as far away as Darwin, and some students’ families as far away as Tasmania will be tuning in. We hope people from around the globe can watch and appreciate how hard this year’s students have worked.”
Each production has been pre-recorded in the Ponton Theatre and the Creative Hub, and will be streamed online at the time of its original scheduled performance.
Sprung Festival consists of four productions; two films - Due Date, and My Town Jamm, and two theatre productions captured on film - Unwritten (pictured), and Comfortable In Our Bubbles.
Each show contributes its own unique and exciting concepts to the festival and each will be broadcast twice, on different nights from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 October.
