• Applications for the musical bequest program open on Monday 24 August, with funding distributed in December

Community organisations across the Albury-Wodonga region are invited to apply for funding through the Charles Sturt University Ruth Whyte Memorial Bequest.

The bequest provides annual funding of up to $5,000 for projects that assist musical initiatives across the region.

The funding was established through a generous gift from the late Ruth Whyte, a passionate supporter of classical music and the Albury-Wodonga community.

Mrs Whyte directed that part of her estate be used for the advancement of music in the Albury-Wodonga region after her passing in 1998.

Since 2000, hundreds of gifts have been made to musical organisations in the Albury-Wodonga region.

Charles Sturt’s Executive Director of Engagement and Enterprise, Mr Tom Burton, said the University was proud to continue Mrs Whyte’s legacy and facilitate her support of the arts.

“Charles Sturt proudly invests in creative initiatives that strengthen regional communities through music and culture,” Mr Burton said.

“The Ruth Whyte Memorial Bequest has long helped ensure artistic talent in regional Australia is allowed to flourish.”

Applications for projects running in 2027 open on Monday 24 August and will close on 21 September.

Successful applicants will be notified in November and funding available from December.
