- Chinese business students learn about sustainability and entrepreneurship during Port Macquarie study tour
- Charles Sturt’s longstanding partnerships brings international students to regional Australia for immersive educational experiences
Business students from Tianjin University of Commerce (TUC) in China recently completed a 10-day study tour of the Mid North Coast region.
The students attended classes and met with teachers at Charles Sturt's Port Macquarie campus, with a focus of learning about how sustainability principles are shaping modern business practices. Charles Sturt also arranged for them to meet with local business leaders.
Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renée Leon, said the tour highlighted the University's ability to deliver globally relevant education from its regional campuses.
"Charles Sturt University's primary focus will always remain its mission of providing higher education opportunities for regional students in regional Australia," Professor Leon said.
"At the same time, visits like this demonstrate that Charles Sturt's campuses, facilities and teaching expertise are highly valued by our international partners and recognised well beyond Australia's borders."
Charles Sturt has maintained a partnership with Tianjin University of Commerce for more than 25 years, having commenced its undergraduate business programs with its Chinese partners in 2000.
Professor Leon said international partnerships strengthen learning outcomes for students from both countries.
"International partnerships like this allow students to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences and create memories that last long after they return to their home countries," Professor Leon said.
"They also help foster the global outlook that is increasingly important in today's interconnected world."
It wasn't all business for the TUC students, who also visited the Sea Acres Rainforest Centre, Billabong Zoo and Guulabaa - Place of Koala, as well as enjoying a sunset river cruise and time at the beach.
