- Japanese nursing students gain firsthand insight into Australian healthcare through Bathurst study tour
- International visit highlights global recognition of Charles Sturt’s facilities and teaching expertise
Nursing students from Tokyo Ariake University of Medicine and Health (TAU) recently completed a week-long study tour at Charles Sturt University’s Bathurst campus.
The visiting students (pictured) joined Charles Sturt nursing students in lectures focused on Australian healthcare practices, while also touring the campus’s state-of-the-art nursing and paramedicine simulation centre.
The tour included visits to Headspace Bathurst and Bathurst Hospital, providing students with valuable exposure to real-world clinical facilities and offering insights into the delivery of healthcare in regional Australia.
Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renée Leon, said the visit demonstrated the University’s ability to deliver globally relevant education from its regional campuses.
“Charles Sturt University’s primary focus will always remain its mission of providing higher education opportunities for regional students in regional Australia,” Professor Leon said.
“At the same time, visits like this demonstrate that Charles Sturt’s campuses, facilities and teaching expertise are highly valued by our international partners and recognised well beyond Australia’s borders.”
Charles Sturt and Tokyo Ariake University have developed a strong partnership through international education and exchange opportunities, with collaboration between the institutions creating valuable opportunities for students and staff from both countries.
Professor Leon said Charles Sturt’s international partnerships enhanced learning experiences and broadened opportunities for students.
“International partnerships such as this allow students to learn alongside peers from different cultures, gain new perspectives on professional practice and develop the global outlook that is increasingly important in healthcare and other professions,” she said.
