The next generation of finance experts continue to reap the rewards of Charles Sturt University Alumna Katie Burns’ passion for the industry as she offers $5,000 to one lucky applicant.

The Katie Burns Alumni Assistance Scholarship is open to any student studying or commencing a course in the Charles Sturt School of Business, either online or at any of the main campuses, including at Charles Sturt in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie or Wagga Wagga.

The one-off payment of $5,000 will assist the successful applicant with university costs such as on-campus accommodation, textbooks, tuition fees, work placements and other essential items such as equipment to complete their studies.

Charles Sturt Foundation Chief Executive Officer Ms Sarah Ansell said this scholarship was an inspiring example of ‘paying it forward’.

“Katie graduated from Charles Sturt in Wagga Wagga in the late 1990s with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting/Law), and from here her career soared, beginning with a graduate position at a chartered accounting firm in Sydney before being invited to become a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers,” Ms Ansell said.

“Her hard work and commitment is now being passed on to those looking to follow a similar career path thanks to her generosity and desire to pay it forward.”

Katie grew up in Leeton, a regional town in New South Wales, and as such knows the challenges faced by those living in regional and rural communities.

For this reason, applicants who live, or grew up in a regional location will be looked upon favourably should they be able to show proof of this.

The successful continuing student will also have a GPA of 4.0 or above, or for a commencing student, an ATAR score of 65 or above.

Applications for this scholarship close at 9am on Monday 15 January.
