- The third Bathurst Multicultural Storytelling Festival on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 March features the Consul General of Timor-Leste and leading Bathurst media figures
The
Bathurst Multicultural Storytelling Festival director Mr Jock Cheetham, senior lecturer in journalism in the Charles Sturt University School of Communication
and Creative Industries in Bathurst, said the inclusive festival celebrates Australia’s Harmony Day.
“This year we are privileged to hear stories from the Consul General of Timor-Leste in Sydney, Mr Luciano Valentim da Conceicao (pictured), and leading Bathurst media figures, the Western Advocate’s editor, Mr Murray Nicholls, and radio 2BS presenter Ms Jacqueline (‘Jac’) Underwood,” he said.
“The festival program begins on Friday evening with ‘Stories from Bathurst: Meet the Media’.
“The Bathurst media has possibly interviewed you, now it’s time to interview them.”
The ‘Meet the Media’ event starts at 5.30pm (until 7pm) on Friday 19 March at Keystone 1889 (99 Keppel Street) and is a chance to tell local journalists what you really think.
Free tickets for this event are available via Eventbrite and Keystone’s bar is open before and after the event.
On Saturday 20 March from 2.30pm for a 3pm start at Keystone 1889 (99 Keppel Street), hear ‘Stories from East Timor: Meet the Consul General’, in which Mr Luciano Valentim da Conceicao, Consul General of Timor-Leste in Sydney, will share stories from his homeland. This event runs until approximately 4.30pm.
A few short films from East Timor will also be screened, followed by the Consul General’s talk and an interview by Jock Cheetham. An audience Q&A rounds off the event.
