• The Teach exhibition at Charles Sturt University in Dubbo until Monday 23 August showcases the talent and abilities of art teachers in the Orana region

The Teach art exhibition at Charles Sturt University in Dubbo features a wide range of media including oil painting, watercolour, drawing, photography and printmaking.

Charles Sturt Director External Engagement (Dubbo) Mr James McKechnie said he was pleased to support the Teach exhibition.

“There’s no denying that we are still wading through an anxious and uncertain COVID-19 time,” Mr McKechnie said.

“However, I think it’s very important to support our local artists, and teachers in this case, and celebrate their talents in our exhibition space.”

The Teach art exhibition is curated by Ms Vicki Aland (pictured) of Creative Assembly Central NSW.

“The subject matter and styles are varied, from landscape, figurative and abstract, and the exhibition highlights the diversity of the people within the regional teaching profession,” Ms Aland said.

“Teachers are usually known for their dedication to their students, but the students often don’t realise that their teachers are also artists in their own right.

“The teachers, as artists, are often driven to create; it’s part of their being.

“Exhibiting their artworks gives a focus and encouragement to continue with their art on top of the incredibly time and energy-consuming job of teaching. Exhibiting their art demonstrates the professional knowledge and expertise these teachers have to pass on to their students.”

Mr James McKechnie said there are a few exhibition schedule opportunities at the end of the year and artists interested in showcasing their work at Charles Sturt University in Dubbo should contact the University.

The Teach exhibition in Building 901 at Charles Sturt in Dubbo is open to the public until Monday 23 August during business hours.
