Prospective students hoping to study at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst can explore everything it has to offer as the campus opens its doors to the public in August.

The Charles Sturt Open Day in Bathurst will take place on Sunday 20 August from 10am to 2pm in and adjacent to the library lawn precinct on campus.

Charles Sturt Director of External Engagement (Bathurst) Ms Julia Andrews said this year’s Open Day would give students an insight into university life at Charles Sturt and career pathways to follow.

“Not only will students receive first-hand insights into courses, checking out campus facilities and other student experiences, but they will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from our industry partners,” Ms Andrews said.

“This is an invaluable opportunity for students to meet and chat directly with experts in their chosen field, which could give them an exclusive insight into what the future of their industry looks like.”

Ms Andrews said each Open Day will also assist those who have received early offers through the Charles Sturt Advantage Program (CSA), which provides a pathway into university for Year 12 students before completion of their HSC exams.

“We also encourage students looking to study online to register and attend so they can learn more about studying with Australia’s most experienced online university,” she said.

“Charles Sturt University has 100 per cent online courses to get you where you want to go, from short courses to full bachelors and masters degrees.”

The main expo hub will be in the Rafters Bar area (building 1413) and most information sessions will be held in the adjacent Mansfield Building (building 1411) and the adjacent Library/Learning Commons (building 1412).

The library lawn will host entertainment and activities with live music by local solo singer/songwriter Harriett Fahey, plus Utter Entertainment DJ and PA, and Circus Box entertainer. Food and drink vendors include a coffee van, Trang Hue Vietnamese food truck, Food We Do savoury pastries, Dippin Dots Ice Cream, Cheers Pizza, and The Cheesecake Co.

There will be tours of the campus, accommodation and various Charles Sturt learning facilities.

University and community groups and local businesses that will attend include Charles Sturt Bathurst Netball Club, Charles Sturt Mitchell Rugby Club, Charles Sturt Football Club, Online SRC, Bathurst Student Representative Committee, Bathurst Visitor Information Centre, Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), Dipole Group, Breathe Pilates and Yoga Studio, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, Headspace, NBN, NSW State Emergency Service (SES), and NSW Department of Education – Teach NSW.

The University is prioritising the safety of attendees by putting multiple measures in place around hygiene and open spaces.

“We’re adhering to safe hygiene practices, encouraging social distancing, staggering times for pre-booked information sessions and tours, and monitoring numbers on campus to ensure we are well-positioned to provide the best experience possible,” Ms Andrews said.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to campus on Sunday.”

The University will host dedicated Open Days at other campus locations, including Charles Sturt in Orange and Albury-Wodonga during August.
