Open Day in Wagga Wagga to inspire future Charles Sturt students

Prospective students will get a glimpse of university life as the first of five Charles Sturt University Open Days will be held in Wagga Wagga on Sunday 28 July.

Prospective students considering studying at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga can get a taste of everything the campus offers during its upcoming Open Day, which will be held on Sunday 28 July.

The Open Day will take place at Charles Sturt in Wagga Wagga, running from 10am until 2.30pm, and encourages students to check out courses on offer, along with campus facilities, services and clubs.

Director of External Engagement for Wagga Wagga and Albury-Wodonga Mr David Bardos said he was excited to open the University’s doors to prospective students.

"We understand the importance of choosing the right university and we are excited to showcase the value and impact that studying at Charles Sturt University can bring to your future,” he said.

"We invite you to take full advantage of the day’s activities, ask questions and immerse yourself in the Charles Sturt experience.

Representatives from student clubs, including the cheer and dance club, Wagga Ag Club, WAC Rugby Club, Veterinary Technology Association and Radiography Club, will be available and the Global Digital Farm will showcase their technologies.

A range of appetising foods will also be available, including from Charles Sturt’s Cheers, OMG Donuts, Pimento’s Paella, 3 Dutchies and the Country Women’s Association.

First-year Bachelor of Animal Science Student Ms Molly Farquhar is from Shellharbour and attended the Open Day at Charles Sturt in Wagga Wagga in 2023 before coming to live and study on campus.

She said speaking with people during Open Day helped her decide what course she wanted to study.

“I wanted to hear from current students about what I would be looking at whilst in the course and what field of study I could go into once I graduated,” she said.

“It also gave me the opportunity to meet some of the academics that would be holding my lectures and tutorials and overall gain a better understanding of what university life was like and what to expect if it was the path I chose to take.”

Attendees will also be able to speak with potential future employers and support services such as Teach NSW, UAC, CUC Western Riverina, Transgrid, Riverina Grow Your Own and KU Children’s Services.

Potential students will also be able to learn about the University’s early entry program – Charles Sturt Advantage (CSA).

CSA is a pathway into university for Year 12 students who receive offers before completing their HSC exams. The program’s selection criteria are based on each student’s Year 11 school results and soft skills that are vital in the workforce, such as motivation, empathy, and resilience.

2025 CSA applications are currently open and close on Saturday 31 August.

Representatives from the scholarships and financial support team will also be present to assist attendees understand the potential scholarship opportunities the university has to offer.

Scholarships open in early September 2024 and close on different dates throughout December, January and February, depending on the scholarship. View the current range of scholarships here.

Attendees can also seek guidance on Charles Sturt study-abroad programs with representatives available from the Office of Global Engagement and Partnerships and First Nations support services such as the University’s First Nations Student Centres and First Nations Student Connect.

Open Day at Charles Sturt in Wagga Wagga will be held on Sunday 28 July from 10am to 2.30pm in Joyes Hall, building 209. Information sessions will also be held at various building across the campus. Entertainment and activities will be held in the Convention Centre, building 230.
