Charles Sturt University is welcoming more than 8,000 commencing on-campus and online students during Orientation Week from Monday 21 to Friday 25 February.
Orientation Week is comprised of on-campus and online events and information sessions to ensure students are prepared for classes to commence the following week.
This week Welcome Events are being held on six of the University’s regional campuses, followed by a market day, campus tours and information sessions to integrate continuing and commencing students into university life.
Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor Professor Renée Leon said it was wonderful to have students back on campus, creating vibrancy and connection with the University’s community.
“It’s wonderful to be able to welcome more than 8,000 commencing students to Charles Sturt University for session one this year,” she said.
“These students are starting the same journey that more than 200,000 Charles Sturt University graduates have taken, one which will provide them with knowledge, skills, industry connections and friendships that will prove invaluable in their careers and lives.
“These orientation events and activities will ensure our new students have the guidance and support they need to hit the ground running in their studies, as well as the opportunity to start to make connections with staff and their fellow students.
“After the interruptions of the last two years, we are excited to be returning to vibrant campus life with safe, on-campus orientation events.”
Close to 2,700 commencing on-campus students and more than 6,000 commencing online students will join 3,566 continuing students university-wide.
Among this group will be 166 international students who will be commencing their studies with Charles Sturt and they will join 196 continuing international students.
In 2022, online students will attend 310 residential schools in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Port Macquarie, and Wagga Wagga.
There were more than 23,870 applications to study on campus and online at Charles Sturt in 2022.
Charles Sturt University is continuing to take all necessary steps in regard to COVID-19.
