aLMOST, a community project that takes inspiration from local young people by exploring their moments of expectation and uncertainty, will come alive with colour, music and dramatic action at Bathurst this Thursday 3 June.

A collaborative project between Charles Sturt University (CSU) and TAFE ‘Youth Connections’ students, aLMOST’s director Linden Tierney has taken the experiences of the TAFE students by posing a series of  questions such as “what is it like to almost sneeze, almost get caught, or almost fall in love?” and expressing them through physical theatre. 

This strong premise, combined with fantastic costumes, set, lighting, live and recorded music all designed and created by CSU students, makes this a performance about youth created by youth.

Ms Tierney has come to CSU with a wealth of experience. She managed, directed and performed in circuses throughout Australia for the past 10 years including Circus Monoxide, The Flying Fruit Fly Circus and Queensland’s Circa/Rock’n’Roll Circus based in Brisbane.

The stage performance has the hallmark of new theatre where the audience will see dance, trapeze, movement, mime, clowning, multimedia, films, acrobatics, aerial dramatics and music create and symbolise the truth behind the youth issues of relationships, trust, strength and anger.

aLMOST is a moving kaleidoscope of circus, music, text and imagery to create an experience of theatre that inspires, reflects and discovers …the ‘almost’ in our lives.
