Leading psychology academic joins CSU

CSU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Goulter has announced the appointment of Professor Carmen Moran as Head of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and as Professor of Psychology at CSU.

Charles Sturt University (CSU) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Goulter has announced the appointment of Professor Carmen Moran as Head of CSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences and as Professor of Psychology at CSU.

Welcoming the appointment Professor Goulter said, “Professor Moran is a leading academic and practitioner in psychology who brings many years experience to her new role at CSU.
 
“In 2006, Professor Moran won a Carrick Institute Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning for her leadership in the development of learning and teaching policies at the University of New South Wales (UNSW),” said Professor Goulter.
 
“She is currently the Presiding Member of UNSW’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and was the Head of its School of Social Work. Her appointment will enhance CSU’s role as the national University of inland Australia,” he said.

Prior to joining UNSW, Professor Moran was a lecturer and senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Sydney and a psychologist at Prince Henry Hospital in Sydney.

Through her research, Professor Moran focuses on stress and coping, humour, spirituality and human behaviour.

Professor Moran will commence in her new appointment, based at the University’s Wagga Wagga Campus from Monday 10 December 2007.
