Entries for the 2013 Australian Event Awards were open to any event staged between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2013. The aim of the awards is to recognise and reward innovation and excellence, and unite the Australian events industry.

Mr Dan Aubin, lecturer in the Bachelor of Communication (Theatre/Media) degree at the CSU School of Communication and Creative Industries in Bathurst,  said, “This is great news, because audiences thoroughly enjoy the SPRUNG Festival of creativity and recognise that it is an authentic learning environment that launches students into professional careers, further study, and leaves them with a very positive legacy from their time at Charles Sturt University.

“From this dynamic and integrated event, the students take a grounded sense of confidence with them as they seek and develop their careers in the arts, entertainment, communication, and education industries. Ultimately, our graduates go on to travel broadly, work well in teams, bring communities together, and affect positive change. The SRUNG Festival is responsible for this.”

Miss Lucy Harrison, who coordinated the 2012 SPRUNG Festival, said, “I’m very excited that the SPRUNG Festival has received this recognition, and if it wins the title of Australia’s Favourite Event, it will generate significant promotional opportunities and raise the profile of the festival.”
