When the producer of Australian hit film, The Bank, wanted a university in the movie that represented innovation and leading-edge technology, he chose Charles Sturt University (CSU).

In the corporate thriller – currently showing in cinemas across Australia – the CSU logo appears on a fax sent by leading actor David Wenham.

Wenham’s character, Jim Davis, is a CSU student and mathematical genius who has just completed his PhD.

In an early scene, Jim faxes a proposal for new software that can predict movements in the stockmarket to a fictional Australian bank, Centabank.

The film’s producer, John Maynard, said he wanted a “clever” university that was known for its leading edge interest in new technology, and CSU was suggested.

The University had no hesitation in agreeing to be associated with the movie.

“We were thrilled that the producers recognised CSU as a leading edge university,” says the Executive Director of CSU’s Division of Information Technology, Mike Rebbechi.

“This further builds CSU’s reputation as Australia’s leading facilitator of learning in the e-environment.”

CSU is Australia’s largest distance education provider of tertiary education, using the latest technology to deliver courses to students across Australia and around the world.
