the Hon. Katrina Hodgkinson, MPNSW Minister for Small Business, the Hon. Katrina Hodgkinson, MP, will launch Charles Sturt University’s (CSU) newest business degree, the Graduate Certificate of Small Business Management  on Wednesday 26 October.

Ms Hodgkinson who is also the Minister for Primary Industries, will be joined at the launch by Ms Yasmin King, the NSW Commissioner for Small Business who is currently conducting her “Listening Tour” throughout the state.

“The launch has already received an overwhelming show of support through the heavy representation of industry and local bodies,” said Graduate Certificate in Small Business Management course director, Dr Lan Snell. “It shows how much support for small business there is in the region.”

This support extends to CSU’s involvement in local small business, with the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber announcing the appointment of Dr Snell as a Board Member. Dr Snell was invited as an ex officio Board Member in recognition of CSU's contribution to the Wagga Wagga business community.

“I am honoured to be part of a group which does so much for small business in the local community,” said Dr Snell. “The fact that the launch will be attended by government representatives and representatives from various small business stakeholders demonstrates how Charles Sturt University collaborates successfully.”

CSU's Graduate Certificate in Small Business Management has a strong emphasis on personal development and industry best practice. The course offers students access to industry peers, market leaders and other leading resources.

“The course provides industry-focused, flexible studies for small business operators with the completion of three core subjects in marketing, human resources and strategy, and one elective subject that enables students to tailor the course to their needs.

“A key component of study is the linkage of theory with current issues in small business and the student's own small business setting,” Dr Snell said.

“The course offers students a unique opportunity to network with industry peers and to develop alliances. The industry-aligned structure of the course enables students to learn and share processes with others. The use of action learning processes means students can benchmark their current business processes and develop practical insights to create the desired future state of their business.”

Media Note: The Graduate Certificate of Small Business Management launch will take place at 6pm on Wednesday 26 October at the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre, Council meeting room, corner Baylis and Morrow Streets, Wagga Wagga.
