Charles Sturt University is welcoming more than 6,300 commencing on-campus and online students during Orientation Week from Monday 20 to Friday 24 February.

The University will welcome approximately 14 per cent more on-campus students in 2023 than 12 months previous, while the demand for on-campus student accommodation has also increased.

Orientation Week is comprised of on-campus and online events orientation events and activities which ensure new students have the guidance and support they need to hit the ground running in their studies, as well as the opportunity to start to make connections with staff and their fellow students

Welcome events are being held on six of the University’s regional campuses this week, followed by a market day, campus tours and information sessions to integrate continuing and commencing students into university life.

Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor Professor Renée Leon said it was wonderful to have students back on campus, creating vibrancy and connection with the University’s community.

“The University is really excited about this year. Charles Sturt has experienced an increase in enrolments which means we will welcome more than 6,300 commencing students to Charles Sturt University for session one this year,” Professor Leon said.

“These students are starting the same journey that more than 200,000 Charles Sturt University graduates have taken, one which will provide them with knowledge, skills, industry connections and friendships that will prove invaluable in their careers and lives.

Professor Leon said these students have started their university journey with Australia’s best university for graduate employment.

“The 2022 Graduate Outcome Survey (GOS) revealed that Charles Sturt graduates are in full-time employment at a higher rate than any other Australian university,” she said.

“The 2022 GOS shows more than 90 per cent of graduates securing full-time employment in four to six months of graduating.

“I believe our excellent graduate employment outcomes, which are underpinned by the positive learning experience our students have at Charles Sturt, are translating into enrolment growth.”

More than 20,000 students will be commencing or continuing their study with Charles Sturt University in 2023.

Commencing students will join more than 14,000 continuing students on-campus and online, and almost 2,280 students will be living on one of the University’s six regional campuses.
