Applications for the first round of the 2020 Charles Sturt University Community-University Partnership (CUP) Grants program will open on Monday 9 March.
The first round of the program will provide up to $60,000 worth of grants to community groups, organisations, schools, and individuals in and around six of Charles Sturt’s regional communities: Albury-Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Orange, Bathurst, Port Macquarie and Dubbo.
Grants of up to $1,000 are available in six categories – arts and culture, education, Indigenous engagement, health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and sport.
Charles Sturt Director of Industry and Community Engagement Associate Professor Laura Dan said after a successful community response in 2019, she is now looking forward to seeing the applications start to come in for the first round this year.
“In 2019, the CUP Grants program received its largest number of applications and awarded more than $120,000 to 120 different groups and individuals within Charles Sturt University’s regional footprint,” she said.
“It has been wonderful to hear about and see the valuable impact these grants have had for CUP Grant recipients in our regional communities.
“If you know an organisation, sporting club, community group or individual in our region that is doing great work within the community and needs some financial support, I encourage you to tell them about the CUP Grants because they are a fantastic initiative.”
The CUP Grants program is designed to support the development of regions across Charles Sturt’s footprint through contributions to cultural, economic, sporting and related activities and build higher education aspiration and awareness, particularly among young people in rural and regional communities.
Applications for the CUP Grants can be made via the 'Grants' page on the Charles Sturt website and will close on Monday 6 April.
