Applications have been flooding in for the Charles Sturt University (Charles Sturt) early entry program, the Charles Sturt Advantage.

The program looks beyond test scores for university admission and searches for school leavers and non-school leavers ready to unlock their potential.

Applications opened in July to the Charles Sturt Advantage early entry program and will close on Saturday 31 August, providing approximately nine days left for students to apply.

Students may be eligible to apply if they can demonstrate qualities such as emotional intelligence, collaboration, empathy, communication skills, resilience, and a commitment to creating a world worth living in.

A number of Year 12 students have already submitted applications.

Charles Sturt Advantage Program Director Mr Peter Greening said, “There has been an amazing response to the new Charles Sturt Advantage early entry program.

“We have seen a very high level of interest from high schools, individuals coming along to our Open Days, phone enquiries, on our social media channels and on our website.

“What has been most rewarding to see with the launch of this program is the amazing stories of students’ motivation, empathy and resilience that we have seen in many applications to date,” Mr Greening said.

Mr Paul McDonald who is a Careers Advisor at St Stanislaus’ College in Bathurst, said, “From our Year 12 cohort, approximately 30 per cent are interested in studying at Charles Sturt and a third of them are looking at the Charles Sturt Advantage scheme.

“It is great to see entry into university based not solely on academic ability, but also on wholeness, attitude and empathy.

“Through this program Charles Sturt will gain a well-rounded student,” he said.

Students who are admitted to the Charles Sturt Advantage program will become part of an exclusive nurture program at the University which will support them to develop their soft skills, prepare them for university, and connect them with a community of like-minded people.

Applications for the Charles Sturt Advantage early entry program close on Saturday 31 August 2019.
