- Charles Sturt stands with tertiary institutions across the world to uphold academic integrity
- Events planned for Wednesday 16 October just the latest in the University’s effort to combat contract cheating
Charles Sturt University (Charles Sturt) has thrown its wholehearted support behind the fourth International Day of Action Against Contract Cheating.
Held annually on 16 October by the International Center for Academic Integrity, the day features a series of webinars and activities aimed at maintaining academic integrity in tertiary institutions across the globe.
Last year, 88 academic institutions participated, and Charles Sturt Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor John Germov (pictured) said the University was a strong supporter of the event.
“Charles Sturt University is proud to participate in the International Day of Action Against Contract Cheating across all of our campuses and online learning facilities,” he said.
“Staff at Charles Sturt University and its study centres promote the highest standards of academic integrity in all their endeavours, spanning the full spectrum of academic research and study.
“Signing on in support of this day is just the latest way the University is acting to maintain the reputation of its qualifications and its graduates.”
Charles Sturt employs a variety of programs and policies to combat the threat of contract cheating.
All incoming students are required to undertake free Academic Integrity modules to help them understand the University's Academic Integrity Policy and expectations.
The University also provides personalised study support to all students, including those studying online and through its partners.
As part of its commitment to the International Day of Action Against Contract Cheating, Charles Sturt campuses will have student champions and staff giving away resources and creating awareness at centrally-located stalls on Wednesday 16 October.
It has also invested in further professional development of faculty staff to enhance detection of contract cheating.
Additionally, Charles Sturt study centres will display a whiteboard declaration promoting a positive statement for integrity and against contract cheating.
The declarations will feature social media hashtags that emphasise the University’s commitment to eradicating the contract cheating industry (#defeatthecheat) and engaging in genuine learning (#excelwithintegrity).
