- Five senior executes of Yangzhou University visited Charles Sturt University in Bathurst for formal talks on Friday 30 June
- The discussions explored potential collaborative research projects, student exchange and study abroad, faculty exchange programs, and other cooperation opportunities
- Charles Sturt has delivered higher education programs at Yangzhou University since 1999, with more than 1,280 Yangzhou University students graduating from the program
Charles Sturt University in Bathurst welcomed a delegation of senior executives from Yangzhou University in China on Friday 30 June to discuss future cooperation between the institutions.
The delegation met with Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Renée Leon and other senior Charles Sturt leaders to explore and discuss potential collaborative research projects, student exchange and study abroad, faculty exchange programs, and other cooperation opportunities between Yangzhou University and Charles Sturt University.
Professor Leon said she was delighted to welcome the Yangzhou University delegation to the University in Bathurst and welcomed discussions to further the relationship between the two institutions.
“The University is proud of the 24-year association with Yangzhou University,” Professor Leon said.
“We are proud to have been engaged in the successful delivery of higher education programs at Yangzhou University since 1999, with more than 1,280 Yangzhou University students successfully graduating from the program.
“Charles Sturt University commenced delivery of its undergraduate Bachelor of Business Studies with our four China Joint Cooperation Program partners in 2000.”
To welcome the delegation ahead of formal discussions, Bathurst Wiradyuri Elders Dinawan Dyirribang, Yanhadarrambal, and Wirribee performed a Smoking and Welcome to Country ceremony at The Grange Chancellery on campus.
The delegates from Yangzhou University included:
- Professor Wang Chengtang, Vice-President, Yangzhou University
- Professor Yan Changjie, Director of the Academic Affairs Office
- Professor Yang Hua, Dean of College of Electrical, Energy and Power Engineering
- Professor Qian Li, Dean of Medical College; and
- Professor Miao Haitao, Deputy Director of the International Office
With Vice-Chancellor Professor Leon, the Charles Sturt executives included:
- Mr Mike Ferguson, Pro Vice-Chancellor, International
- Mrs Eleanor Mitchell, Director, Global Engagement, Office of Global Engagement
- Professor Lewis Bizo, Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences; and
- Associate Professor Jenny Kent, Acting Deputy Dean, Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences
The meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Yangzhou University and Charles Sturt senior leaders took place in the Council Room at The Grange Chancellery (building 1205) from 10.30am on Friday 30 June.
Senior Charles Sturt representatives recently visited the four China Joint Cooperation Program partners in China to attend an annual meeting on Saturday 27 May, and Yangzhou University graduation ceremonies on Tuesday 30 May.
