Celebration of the regions marks Installation of Chancellor

The role of the regions in Charles Sturt University’s success will be recognised during the ceremony to mark the Installation of Charles Sturt University’s second Chancellor, Lawrence Willett, AO.

The role of the regions in Charles Sturt University’s success will be recognised during the ceremony to mark the Installation of Charles Sturt University’s second Chancellor, Lawrence Willett, AO, this Thursday 20 March. 

Representatives from community organisations, the education and business sectors and local and state government from throughout the regions in which CSU is located will attend the ceremony on the University’s Bathurst Campus. 

Mr Willett will be installed as Chancellor by the Governor of NSW, Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashier, AC. 

The Mayors of the cities in which CSU has major campuses – Albury, Bathurst, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga – will take an active part in the ceremony in which the strong relationship which the University enjoys with these cities will be recognised.

The Installation is one of the most traditional and ceremonial functions of the University 
and included in this celebration will be the handing over of gifts. 

Mr Willett was elected CSU’s second Chancellor in December 2002. He is a former leading public servant, and currently the Mayor of Gunning Shire, Chairman of Gungahlin Development Authority, Chairman of Jupiters Ltd and non executive Director of ANZ Executors and Trustees Company Ltd. 

Prior to the Installation Ceremony, the Mayor of Bathurst, Councillor Ian Macintosh will host a Mayoral Reception for the new Chancellor in Machattie Park, Bathurst. 

A formal dinner will conclude the ceremonial functions held to mark this occasion. 

The Installation Ceremony is being held at 4.30pm in the CD Blake Auditorium on the University’s Bathurst Campus.
