CSU congratulates Australian Greens on election

Vice-Chancellor and President of CSU, Professor Ian Goulter, has congratulated Senator Bob Brown, Leader of the Australian Greens, on the election outcome.

Vice-Chancellor and President of Charles Sturt University (CSU), Professor Ian Goulter, has congratulated Senator Bob Brown, Leader of the Australian Greens, on the election outcome.

"Earlier this year Senator Brown opened Charles Sturt University's showcase environmental campus in Albury-Wodonga. The campus is a model of how infrastructure precincts can be designed to be sustainable and functional on a large scale," said Professor Goulter.

"The Senator was impressed by Charles Sturt University's leadership in environmental education and by our applied research into balanced, practical and sustainable ways to improve farming systems, water management, salinity control, bio-security management, and environmental outcomes.

"Importantly, we welcomed the Senator's strong interest in rural medicine and the crisis facing Australia's health system through a lack of doctors.

"As a former doctor who grew up in Trunkey in central western NSW, the Senator showed a deep understanding of the challenges facing rural communities across a broad range of areas and has indicated support for Charles Sturt University's work to address critical regional health workforce needs.

"Senator Brown has a clear passion for addressing rural and regional issues, and I look forward to working with the Senator, and his parliamentary team, to further progress the interests of rural and regional Australians," Professor Goulter said.
