Associate Professor PK Basu from the CSU School of Accounting and Finance said that 28 undergraduate students from various courses within the CSU Faculty of Business will join the two-week ‘China - Business and Culture’ program, and will be accompanied by Dr Felicity Small, an academic from the Faculty.
“This program offers our students the opportunity to experience the culture, business and language of China, the strongest emerging economic power in the world,” Professor Basu said.
“We will be hosted by one of our partner institutions, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, located in Kunming city, which is the capital of Yunnan Province and a centre for transport, science and technology in modern China. It was the gateway to the celebrated Silk Road that facilitated trade with Tibet, Sichuan, Myanmar (Burma), and India.
“During the program students will participate in informative sessions on the Chinese economy and business at the Yunnan University of Finance and Economics. There will be group tours to local businesses to understand the Chinese business culture, as well as interactive Chinese language lessons and cultural activities.”
The CSU students are studying accounting, finance, management, marketing and human resources, and will be in China from Saturday 22 June to Sunday 7 July. They are travelling with the support of the Vice-Chancellor’s Travel Fund through CSU Global.
In the past two years, students from the Faculty of Business participated in similar international study tours in India, Philippines, Malaysia and China.
