More than 1 500 people will celebrate three CSU graduation ceremonies in Albury-Wodonga on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 December.

More than 1 500 people will celebrate three Charles Sturt University (CSU) graduation ceremonies in Albury-Wodonga on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 December.

Family and friends will join over 400 graduates at the ceremonies which this year will be hosted at the Albury Entertainment Centre, 525 Swift Street, Albury.

Acting Head of Campus Mr Peter Fraser said, “We congratulate our graduating professionals with their friends and families on the successful completion of their studies.

“Charles Sturt University takes pride in producing job-ready professionals who enter the workforce very insightful, making a positive impact, creating an inclusive society, and inspiring others.

"More than 400 graduates, including a number of research doctorates and master’s degrees, will receive their testamurs from the University in Albury-Wodonga this year. We invite you to come and share this important milestone with us."

Graduation highlights include nine research doctorates from the School of Environmental Sciences and four Honours graduates from the School of Community Health, all completing research of local, national or international significance.

Former head of the Murray Darling Freshwater Research Centre, Dr Terry Hillman will deliver the Occasional Address. Ms Sally Richardson will deliver the students’ Vote of Thanks.

9.30am Friday 15 December – More than 170 graduates from the Faculty of Science, and over 440 guests:

CSU Pro Chancellor Mrs Judy Brewer will deliver the Occasional Address. PhD graduate Ms Carmen Amos will deliver the students’ Vote of Thanks.

Research doctorates were completed in varied topics in environmental sciences including bushfire management, frog conservation, and managing water flows in Lake Cowall in central NSW and along the Murray River valley.

Honours graduates in allied health courses have completed studies into: the motivational effects of a community drumming program for stroke survivors (Ms Sheila Smith); helping people find their way, literally, to health services (Ms Sarah Neil); speech-language pathologists’ attitudes towards people who use non-standard English (Ms Emma Clark); and the effect of kinesiology taping on lower leg performance and balance (Ms Lainey Heale).

A lead researcher in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Indigenous Health, Ms Jessica Biles will receive her PhD having focused her studies on the health of Indigenous Australians and the influence health professionals have on the care they provide to this section of the community.
