Charles
Sturt University (CSU) will celebrate the achievements of more than 6 000
students over the coming weeks as the annual graduation ceremonies unfold across
regional Australia.
20 ceremonies will be held between Monday 14 December and Monday 21 December in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Canberra, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga.
Students will be awarded undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees from the Faculties of Arts, Business, Education and Science.
"Our 6 000 graduates for 2015 have studied a diverse range of courses and have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to begin work in their community or undertake further study," CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann said.
"Each Charles Sturt University graduate is unique; they have experienced their own journey to graduation and we look forward to them making their own unique contributions to their profession and their community.
"It has been an honour for Charles Sturt University to be able to help them on their journey and we look forward to hearing of their success into the future.
"As a Vice-Chancellor, graduations are one of the highlights of the year and one of the core reasons universities exist. Charles Sturt University takes great pride in developing quality graduates for our local communities that support the public good."
Graduations are a highlight for the University and also the local communities. CSU graduating students are expected to be joined by more than 10 000 guests over the ten day period, including family and friends, guests of honour and community representatives.
This year CSU will bestow five honorary awards on those who have made significant contributions to arts, education, research and community:
- Reverend John Brown, AM - Doctor of Arts (honoris causa)
- Reverend Professor James Haire, AC - Emeritus Professor of the University
- Ms Glynis Ingram - Doctor of Arts (honoris causa)
- Mr Las Karlsson - Doctor of Education (honoris causa)
- Professor Kevin Parton - Emeritus Professor of the University
CSU also has the highest number of Indigenous enrolments of any Australian university and this year 110 Indigenous students will graduate. This includes CSU's first Indigenous graduate in the Bachelor of Oral Health.
