"Under the Budget initiative, CSU will receive a special one-off payment of $11.6 million for infrastructure spending," Professor Goulter said.
"This new one-off funding is a very welcome first step in addressing infrastructure backlogs and will allow us to advance plans for investment in new capital works to continue to build teaching and student outcomes.
"This is not just an investment in Charles Sturt University, but an investment in the communities of inland Australia.
"Our modelling has shown time and again that every cent spent by the University in enhancing educational opportunities for students in inland Australia has a direct multiplier effect on economic activity in our campus towns," said Professor Goulter.
"This investment will not only create new opportunities to extend the learning experience for students, but will create jobs and build the gross regional product of our campus communities."
"Charles Sturt University has been advocating, alongside other universities, for the Federal government to move quickly to address serious under-funding of university infrastructure over many years," Professor Goulter said.
