(Academic), Professor John Germov, who will commence 5 November based at CSU in Wagga Wagga.

Professor John Germov joins CSU from the University of Newcastle where he drove education innovation, program agility and leadership across the university’s academic strategies.

In making the announcement, CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann said the University was excited to welcome Professor Germov.

“Professor Germov has strong leadership credentials and will be able to use his extensive network and understanding of regional Australia to improve the way we deliver higher education,

“In particular he brings an experience in implementing technology and user analytics that improve the student experience and help shape education programs to ensure they meet the needs of current and future students,” Professor Vann said.

Professor Germov said he was drawn to CSU because of its regional campuses and innovative online study. He also plans to use his position and experience to improve education opportunities for regional Australians.

“I strongly believe in the transformational impact of university education, especially its role in transforming regions, widening participation, and creating an informed citizenry with a cosmopolitan outlook,” Professor Germov said.

Professor Vann said the recruitment process was extensive in order to find the right fit for the University and also to work within its diverse environment across six campuses and online study.

“We’re confident Professor Germov will be a significant contributor to the University achieving its 2017-2022 Strategic Direction and shaping education and research programs that meet the changing needs and expectations of students and our communities,” Professor Vann said.
