Charles Sturt University's Bathurst women's soccer side stormed into the semi-finals of the Australian University Games in Ballarat, with a 2-nil victory over La Trobe University in Wednesday's match.
Undefeated throughout the preliminary rounds including a 9-nil victory on Monday, the team has a strong chance of claiming a medal in Friday's finals. If CSU wins Thursday's semi-final they will progress to the gold medal match.
Women's soccer captain Anna Kearns says that although her team has reached the semi finals, they need to improve if they are to win a medal.
"We should be feeling pretty high now but we're not," she said.
"So far we've played down to the other team's level and if we want to win a gold or silver medal we'll have to improve a lot."
In other sports at the games, the 80-member CSU team has performed well and should contest a number of finals on Friday.
The men's hockey side continues to improve, winning 1-nil against Adelaide University while the undefeated women's team won again on Wednesday.
Touch football produced mixed results for CSU with the women's team victorious 10-1 against Sydney University while the men were eliminated in their final round match.
In the pool the Bathurst students gave strong individual performances, but have struggled against the bigger university teams.
