While most university students will be taking a well-earned break over the holidays, more than 1,600 will be hitting the books in a record number of 80 subjects on offer at the Summer School at Charles Sturt University.
The associate students taking part in the program from December until February are giving up their holidays to accelerate or catch up on their studies, or to find out whether tertiary study suits them.
Total enrolments are up five per cent this year, with a 15 per cent increase in enrolments from students studying at other universities. More than 80 per cent of associate students who complete a Summer School course go on to sign up for a degree course at CSU.
Meanwhile, school leavers thinking about changing their university preferences are reminded that it is Open Day Every Day at Charles Sturt University. During January, existing CSU students will be on hand to show prospective students and their families around the University and tell them about campus life.
NSW HSC students will receive their results from Sunday 3 January and have until 8 January to change their university preferences before the first round of offers from the Universities Admission Centre on 22 January. Victorian students have already received their VCE results and also have until 8 January to change preferences before the first round of offers from the Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre on 17 January.
Prospective CSU students are welcome to contact the student recruitment officers on each campus for a personalised tour. Tours can be organised by contacting Sue Skate at the Albury-Wodonga Campus on (02) 6051 6962, Sandra Legg at the Wagga Wagga Campus on (02) 6933 2381 or Rob Ramsden at the Bathurst Campus on (02) 6338 4120.
