Each year, one environmental science student will receive $6 000 towards living and study costs. The student will pursue a research project as part of the four-year honours program at the University’s Albury-Wodonga Campus.

“The Rotary Club of Albury has put a great deal of energy into promoting environmental education in recent years and it is a natural progression to also a scholarship for tertiary studies into the environment,” said the club president, Ms Heather McCallum.

The Albury branch of the international community organisation is looking to establish a perpetual scholarship to be awarded annually to a local CSU student.

Professor David Battersby, Head of the Albury-Wodonga Campus was delighted to receive this financial support from the Rotary Club of Albury.

“It will bring significant benefits to students carrying out environmental research and contribute further to the high research profile in this field at CSU.”

The annual scholarship will be administered by the Charles Sturt University Foundation, represented in Albury-Wodonga by the Murray Foundation Trust.

Chair of the Murray Foundation Trust, Mr Ron Lewis, has been encouraged by the latest donation to the trust.
“The Trust applauds the Albury Rotary Club’s donation. I invite other Border businesses to follow the lead set by the club to invest in the long-term development of university education within our region through Charles Sturt University,” Mr Lewis said.
