The new $750 000 Contact Centre will house state of the art information software enabling the University to provide prospective students from across Australia with a range of information from one point.
A team of trained customer service officers supported by marketing and research staff will handle inquiries into the University.
“This is a new concept for universities where we are looking at offering a total information package as part of our customer service,” said Ken Ball, Executive Director of the University’s Communications and International Relations Division.
“Universities now have many different clients from school leavers, mature age students and those people wanting to upgrade their skills - to our industry partners and overseas students.
“To better service our public we have looked at the practice that is now extensively used in the corporate sector and taken elements of this as part of our customer relationship service.”
The opening of the new purpose built Contact Centre launches stage one of CSU’s new customer service project called info.csu which will see new customer service staff appointed to the University and new ‘one stop information points’ opened at each CSU campus.
Stage one of the project will bring together the University’s telephone switchboard duties to the one site to handle prospective student telephone and email inquiries as well as public inquiries to the University. The info.csu service will later be expanded to operate on a global basis.
The Contact Centre is located at the front of the Bathurst Campus next to the University’s Marketing and Communications office. Bathurst Mayor, Councillor Ian Macintosh will officially open the centre at 11 am, Wednesday 27 June. CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Cliff Blake, Head of the Bathurst Campus Dr Peter Hodgson, CSU staff and invited guests will attend the opening.
