Whether or not to return to study can be a daunting decision. To help answer questions about studying at tertiary level, Charles Sturt University (CSU) will run a series of seminars in the Riverina during August and September.

The information seminars are designed for people who may be considering going to university or TAFE and who are not currently studying for their Higher School Certificate (HSC) - including mature age people who did not complete their HSC and those who left school many years ago.

"There are a lot of questions that need to be asked before you decide to enrol at a tertiary institution and these seminars are designed to answer these questions," CSU Student Equity Officer, Cheryl Bookallil said.

"These tours are part of the University's strong and successful profile in enrolling and supporting isolated students, particularly those who might be the first in their family to do university study."

The seminars will cover topics such as application costs, student fees and credit transfers, including credit for previous study and work experience.

"The seminars will look at the expectations of university study, application with special consideration for those who have suffered an educational disadvantage, scholarships and bridging courses as well as many personal issues related to returning to formal study," Ms Bookallil said.

Information will also be available on courses and both internal and distance study methods.

While in each centre, Ms Bookallil and the Learning Skills Adviser for CSU, Bernie McGowan, will be available to meet current CSU distance students.

For more information, please contact Cheryl Bookallil at CSU on telephone (02) 6933 2516.
