Bilateral relations between the United States (US) and Australia will take centre stage at Charles Sturt University (CSU) this month, with a visit from the US Charge d'Affaires Mr James Carouso.

The acting US Ambassador to Australia will deliver a free public lecture at CSU in Wagga Wagga from 4.15pm on Wednesday 23 August.

The lecture, US-Australian economic relations, exploring the bilateral benefits of our alliance and challenging misconceptions about America's continued participation in the region, is part of the University's Explorations Series.

Mr Carouso has been the Charge d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Canberra since the departure of Ambassador John Berry almost a year ago. He arrived at the Embassy in July 2016 as Deputy Chief of Mission.

With a background in international banking and finance, Mr Carouso was Director of the State Department Office overseeing relations with the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and East Timor.

Head of Campus at CSU in Wagga Wagga Ms Miriam Dayhew said, "It will be an honour to host the visit of Mr Caruso to the University and to be able to showcase the facilities that support student learning and research.

"The Charles Sturt University community welcomes the opportunity to hear Mr Caruso in his presentation that will be made as part of the Explorations Series of public lectures."
